This Regroup in Valor Mortis guide follows Chapter 02 through the Valley of Ashes . The walkthrough includes the seven Ambers (04-10), the Pistol, the Ferrofluid Flask upgrades, and the side quests that take place here, leading up to the encounter with General Lothaire, the Eagle Bearer.
Regrouping at Valor Mortis: first chests from the Lantern Marker
From the Lantern Sign , proceed to the overturned cart and locate the wooden platform by the precipice. Before swinging across the pole, break the crates on the left. Behind the enemy in the alley, you'll find the chest containing the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade 01.
After the first Grenadier, look for the next metal wagon. Open the chest to its left to obtain Amber 04, Indestructible Armor . You can also begin "A Silent Farewell" in this section: speak to the soldier who calls you from a carriage behind the Grenadier.
Collect the Gun and the Empty Ferrofluid Bottle
After descending the destroyed bridge, enter the train car on the left to collect the Pistol . Then, proceed across the platform section and open the chest next to the Ascent Lantern : it contains Empty Ferrofluid Flask 01.
Obtain the letter from the officers and return it to the soldier.
Continue through the cave and climb the exit ladder. Further along, follow these steps to advance in the mission:
- Activate the elevator by shooting the Nephtoglobin points.
- Jump onto the central platform and burn the golden vines on the opposite access point.
- Defeat the special enemy and collect the officers' letter.
- Return to the soldier via the shortcut down the stairs.
By delivering the letter, you will complete "A Silent Farewell" and obtain Amber 05, Sleight of Hand.
The Sworn Ones and Amber 06, Perfectionism
From the shortcut, descend the vines and, after the group of enemies, take the left fork. Defeat the Eternal Guardian and collect the quest items to begin "The Oath-Bound." Behind this enemy is the Amber 06 chest, Perfectionism.
The Emissary: Collect the seal
From the Other Side Lantern , enter the poison gas area on the left. Look for the carriage and collect the Emissary's Seal . This is the starting point for this quest; you will need to return later to continue it.
Ambers from the Military Camp: Dominatus and Surplus
- Amber 07, Dominatus: Look for a shop on the left side of the slope, between explosive barrels, in the Military Camp.
- Amber 08, Surplus: Follow the path to the side cave of the camp. Burn the vines and climb the stairs and walkways to reach the chest.
The Quarry and the first zip line: Ambers 09 and 10
In the Quarry , after the first wooden platforms, locate the vines opposite the shortcut staircase. Burn them to access Amber 09, Potent Brew.
After the first zipline, break the crates on the left edge. From there, continue to the enemy tower to obtain Amber 10, Marksman's Nightmare.
How to get the Beware of the Gap trophy
"Beware the Hole" requires dying by falling into the abyss. If one fall doesn't kill you, repeat it until your health is depleted. The condition is to die, not simply to fall.
General Lothaire, the Eagle Bearer
The final section of the journey corresponds to the fight against General Lothaire, the Eagle Bearer . The encounter begins at 57:55 in the video, after the section dedicated to Amber 10.

We continue the main story through the Valley of Ashes, with the step-by-step route, the side missions that take place here, new weapons, upgrades for the Ferrofluid Flask, seven numbered Ambers from 04 to 10, the "Beware the Hollow" trophy, and the encounter against General Lothaire, the Eagle Bearer.
At the start, from the Indicator Lantern, proceed to an overturned cart and look for a wooden platform by the precipice. Before swinging across the pole, break the crates on the left: behind the enemy in the alley is the Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade Chest 01. Shortly after the first Grenadier, open the chest to the left of the next metal wagon to obtain Amber 04, Indestructible Armor.
The side mission "A Silent Farewell" begins by speaking to the soldier who calls you from a carriage behind the Grenadier. Descending the destroyed bridge, collect the Pistol inside a wagon on the left. After the section of platforms, next to the Ascent Lantern, open the chest containing Empty Ferrofluid Flask 01. Continue through the cave and climb the exit ladder. Further ahead, activate the elevator by shooting the Nephtoglobin points, jump to the central platform, and burn the golden vines on the opposite access point. To begin "The Oathbringer," descend from the shortcut through the vines and take the left fork after the group of enemies: defeat the Eternal Guardian and collect the quest items. Behind the enemy, you'll find the Amber 06 chest, Perfectionism. "The Emissary" can only be started here: from the Other Side Lantern, enter the poison gas area on the left and collect the Emissary's Seal from a carriage; continuing it requires returning further ahead.
At the Military Camp, look for a tent to the left of the slope between explosive barrels to find Amber 07, Dominatus. For Amber 08, Surplus, explore the path through the side cave of the camp, burn the vines, and ascend the ladders and walkways to reach the chest. At the Quarry, after the first few wooden platforms, locate the vines in front of the shortcut ladder and burn them to reach Amber 09, Potent Brew. After the first zipline, break the crates on the left edge and continue to the enemy tower to obtain Amber 10, Marksman's Nightmare.
