The Iron Marshal in Valor Mortis is the second main boss and a mandatory fight to progress the story. This guide explains where to find him, how to counter his attacks, and how to exploit the explosive barrels and the weak point on his back.
Where is the Iron Marshal in Valor Mortis?
You'll find the boss in Chapter 03: Meeting Place , inside the Abandoned Village. The confrontation takes place next to the Orchard Lantern, in the barn located beyond the fog-shrouded entrance.
The fight consists of a single phase : there is no second health bar or transformation with a different pattern. Therefore, you can focus on recognizing its attacks and exploiting openings throughout the entire fight.
Lure the boss towards the explosive barrels
Keep your distance to lure the Marshal near the explosive barrels on the stage and shoot them with the Pistol. This will damage him and allow you to exploit his vulnerable moments.
He fires the blunderbuss on his back.
After one of his attacks, circle around him and aim the Blunderbuss at the large weak point on his back . Accurate shots to that area, along with the barrels, are especially useful for damaging him.
Additionally, you can use the Rapier when it leaves an opening, without prolonging the close-range exchange too much. Fire Transmutation is another option for racking up damage during the encounter.
Reward and relationship with "Ultima Ratio Regum"
Victory grants 7.000 Catalysts and is associated with the "Ultima Ratio Regum" trophy/achievement . It also allows you to continue the story and progress towards obtaining the Hookshot; defeating the Marshal does not guarantee receiving it immediately.

Iron Marshal Boss Fight | Mortis Valor
Complete the full fight against the Iron Marshal, the second main boss of Valor Mortis, who appears in Chapter 03: Gathering Place, inside the Abandoned Village. The encounter takes place next to the Orchard Lantern, in the barn located beyond the fog-shrouded entrance, and is required to progress the story.
The Iron Marshal is a hulking enemy who attacks with slow, powerful blows. He combines sweeps with his metal weapon, frontal attacks, and close-range movements; normal attacks can be deflected, but his unblockable upward strike requires a dodge. The fight consists of a single phase, so there is no second health bar or transformation that requires learning a different attack pattern.
The environment offers a significant advantage: the explosive barrels. Keep your distance to lure the boss near them and fire the Pistol; this allows you to deal damage and exploit his vulnerable moments. When he finishes an attack, circle around the Marshal and fire the Blunderbuss at the large weak point on his back. You can also punish him with the Rapier when he leaves an opening, without lingering too long in his range. Fire Transmutation is another option for racking up damage, although well-aimed shots to his back and the barrels are particularly effective.
